There’s a little house

i’ve built inside myself

it’s a Cape Cod

dark red weather-beaten

there’s a porch out back

with a swing

overlooking the garden

(the cushions are on the shelf

in the back closet –

for when it rains)

a peaceful lake within

walking distance

The fridge, pantry and liquor cabinet

are pretty well stocked

i had to order the prawn mayonnaise

but that should be there

by tomorrow

and Mrs.Thomas down at

the shop said she was getting

some good

chardonnay, cheeses and breads

in a day or two and she’d set some aside.

Make yourself at home.
